Mayor's Rallying Cry in Support of Local Traders on Small Business Saturday
Today is Small Business Saturday across the UK, and Mayor Dave Hodgson has issued a rallying cry for people to support Bedford Borough's excellent local traders.
Commenting, Mayor Dave said: "We have a much higher proportion of independent retailers in Bedford than other towns including Milton Keynes, Northampton and Cambridge. This is a crucial time of year for our small traders, so I would encourage everyone to shop locally this Christmas and enjoy the wealth of fantastic smaller retailers and all that they have to offer.'
"There is 2 hours' free parking today, and every Saturday, in all Council town centre car parks, while parking is free all day on Sunday.
"Next weekend sees the Bedford Christmas Fair, bringing an array of entertainment for everyone to enjoy. So, there really is no reason not to enjoy Bedford Town Centre in the run-up to Christmas!
