Mayor Welcomes Major Employers to The Jobs Market
Mayor Dave Hodgson has welcomed employers exhibiting at The Jobs Market at Bedford Corn Exchange, which is open until 3pm today (Wednesday 10th September). Last year's event saw more than 1,200 members of the public attend over the course of the five hours, making direct contact with the 34 employers represented, alongside a number of training providers and information support services. More than 1,000 job opportunities were available on the day, resulting in more than 300 claimants signing-off after the event, and it is hoped that this year's event will be similarly successful.
Commenting after welcoming the employers this morning, Mayor Dave Hodgson said: "It was a real pleasure to welcome the employers this morning and wish them all the best for the day as they showcase a huge variety of work, training and enterprise opportunities to local people. Following the success of last year's event, when at least a quarter of the people who attended found work afterwards, I'm hoping for an even better figure this time out. It's free to attend and open until 3pm, so I hope people come in large numbers to find out more about the range of opportunities available."
