Mayor Dave Hodgson has been informed that the HEART Academies Trust is holding meetings tonight (16th) and tomorrow (17th) for parents and carers of children at Shortstown, Shackleton or Cauldwell Primary Schools about their deeply unpopular plans to remove the Head Teacher posts and local governing bodies from those schools. Both meetings are taking place at Bedford Academy on Mile Road, at 6:30pm.

Parents were belatedly informed of the alarming restructuring plans when jobs under the new structure were already being advertised, and the standard of engagement with parents and carers has continued with each of these meetings

Commenting, Mayor Dave Hodgson said: "Arranging these meetings at such short notice is typical of HEART'S approach to date to involving parents and carers in these alarming proposals which will have major implications for their children's schooling. Like many parents I have commitments at such short notice, but I hope those who can make it are able to make their views clear and have a genuine opportunity to raise any questions, and to get answers."
