Writing before the Christmas break, Dave Hodgson has wished a very Merry Christmas to all:

"I want to take this opportunity to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas.

A special thanks to all emergency services staff working over the Christmas holiday period. This time last year there were concerns over rising river levels and flood waters following sustained heavy rainfall. Fortunately no such weather emergencies are forecast this year, but whatever the weather, our emergency services will be working on behalf of us all, as they do all year round, twenty four hours a day, seven days a week.

I hope you and your loved ones have a very happy, peaceful Christmas.
