New video from Mayor Dave regarding vaccinations
Mayor Dave Hodgson recorded a new video updating on the current situation regarding vaccinations in Bedford Borough.
You can watch the video here.
Mayor Dave said:
At the beginning of February we will see a new national vaccination centre open at Bedford Heights.
This new centre joins Kings House and the Guru Nanak Gurdwara in delivering the COVID-19 vaccinations in Bedford Borough, and will make it easier for people to get vaccinated locally which is really good news.
I'd like to thank all the NHS staff and the volunteers who are working hard to get local residents vaccinated.
I have been informed by local GPs that we will have the capacity across Bedfordshire and Milton Keynes to deliver 54,000 vaccines a week.
GPs, nurses and volunteers are ready for these vaccinations to take place but we've not had the supply of vaccines we need due to what's been described to me as a 'lumpy' supply issues.
I'm told by our GPs that we can get everyone in Priority 1 to 4 vaccinated by 15th February but we do need that supply, we don't need local residents to be let down.
I've written to both the Prime Minister and the Minister for Vaccination Deployment to ask for our fair share of vaccines.
Again I call on them to ensure enough vaccines are delivered and let the NHS and our volunteers get on with these vaccinations.
