Northamptonshire's Conservative Council chaos has made news in unlikely places, the pages of the New York Times!

We all know the Conservative government have been starving local councils of funding and in some places this has been compounded by bad local decision-making. The article examines some of the issues facing local councils across England.

Bedford Borough's Liberal Democrat Mayor and his administration ensure rigorous financial management and unwavering commitment to fighting for local services means our situation is markedly different from the extraordinary crisis in next door Northamptonshire. There, they are seeking further cuts and closures on top of those already announced to road repairs, libraries, bus subsidies and indeed anything beyond the legal minimum.

Mayor Dave said "We'll keep fighting to save services and investing in our future, but the Conservative Government MUST change course on its ongoing attack on local services. This message is even reaching readers of the New York Times, yet it doesn't seem to have got through to government ministers in Westminster yet."
