News from Rosemary Bootiman and Michael Headley- Local Cllrs for Putnoe
New classrooms are to be built at schools serving Putnoe this year as part of Dave Hodgson's commitment to replace all temporary classrooms with permanent buildings. Phase 1, planned for this year includes Hazeldene Lower and Newnham Middle. Other schools, such as The Hills Lower, Mark Rutherford, St Thomas More and many more wider afield will follow in the next few years.
New Bus Stop and Shelter on Putnoe Street- after the last change of bus routes, no proper stop was provided on Putnoe Street near Puttenhoe Care Home. Buses just stopped in the area without any markings. Your Lib Dem councillors have been pushing for this to be rectified. Now through the use of ward funds not only is it clear where the stop is but a new shelter has been installed as well.
Residents have approached the FOCUS Team about problems at a number of junctions, where parking near the junction is potentially causing difficulties for drivers. Parking close to junctions can cause visibility problems and may also force vehicles into the middle of the road as they turn in or out of the junction to avoid parked cars.
It is possible to have double yellow lines painted to stop parking near busy junctions like this. We want to know what you think about the suggestions we have had for restrictions, and whether you would support them. Please fill in our survey online at www.bedfordlibdems.org.uk/junctions
We now know which pavements in Putnoe are due to be resurfaced this year. This comes after an extra £1m was added to the budget for pavement resurfacing this year by Liberal Democrats.
