Our Children lose out - Class Sizes highest since the 70's

Michael Headley has obtained previously unpublished government figures showing that the number of secondary school age pupils per teacher has increased since Labour came to power.

In Bedfordshire, the number is now the highest since 1974, the oldest figure available. This leaves Bedfordshire only 2 places from the bottom of the league table with only Northumberland & Hull with worse ratios.

Michael Headley said: "This is a shocking indictment of the Labour Government spending cuts. Right across the country secondary school class sizes are rising, but once again Bedfordshire is hit the hardest. Our secondary school age children have to suffer one of the worst pupil to teacher ratios in the country. It was the Tories that started the cuts but it is clearly Labour that have made them worse."
