Over £4,400 Stolen in Parking Machines Thefts in 2019

Cllr Charles Royden

Over £4,400 has been stolen from parking machines in Bedford Borough in 2019, across over 50 criminal attacks.

There have been incidents across different areas of the Borough, including Castle, off Ampthill Road and De Parys Avenue. These incidents are often occurring the early hours and see both vandalism and theft take place.

The Council is working with the machine supplier to increase the security of these machines.

Councillor Charles Royden, Portfolio Holder for Highways and Transport said "It is not just the cost of the stolen cash in these blatant and outrageous crimes, but thousands of pounds in damage has also been caused to the machines. It is outrageous that these crimes continue to be perpetrated on our streets, and we'd encourage anyone who knows anything to contact the Police on 101, or the Council on 01234 718398."

We would request that anyone with any information about these thefts contacts Bedfordshire Police on 101.
