Prescott Comment

17 May 2001

Commenting on John Prescotts incident Michael Headley said: "It was a disturbing incident to see in British Politics. I don't believe that it is acceptable for people to resort to physical means whether throwing eggs or lashing out. However, incidents like this just show how many people feel unconnected with government. We are seeing apathy turning into antipathy. People expected a lot from Labour but when they failed to deliver they lost faith with the whole process."

He added: "I am sure things can be different in our Country, we can have better public services and treat pensioners fairly. I urge people to engage in the democratic process and if they want investment in schools, hospitals, fighting crime and decent pensions they should look to the Liberal Democrats."
