Remembering Captain Sir Tom Moore
Sadly this week we lost Captain Sir Tom Moore.
My thoughts are with Captain Sir Tom Moore's family and friends at this very sad time. I am eternally grateful for his service in both the military and then in civilian life. He is an inspiration to us all.
We flew the Borough Flag at half-mast earlier this week at Borough Hall as a mark of respect and to remember Captain Sir Tom Moore.
A number of people have asked about how we, as a country, can remember Captain Sir Tom.
A virtual book of condolence has been set up at www.sirtom.org and is specifically for Bedfordshire residents to leave a message and pay their respects.
On Sunday 7th February at 10:00am, St Mary's Church in Marston Moretaine will be holding a virtual service with the Bishop of Bedford at https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCSyRTrXjq5JYJXlPjnyoHSQ.
I am sure there will be lots of discussions nationally and here in Bedfordshire, especially with Captain Sir Tom Moore's family, about other ways we can remember Captain Sir Tom.
Captain Sir Tom was not actually a resident of Bedford Borough but lived in Marston Moretaine, and as such I have spoken with the Leader and Deputy Leader of Central Bedfordshire Council and passed on suggestions that a number of residents have sent me.
