Replacing County Council Senior Officers to cost £315,000

16 Dec 2005

In response to a question asked by Liberal Democrat Leader, Cllr Peter Blaine at last Thursday's County Council meeting, the Tory Leader of the Council has admitted that losing 4 out of the 7 senior County Council officers and replacing them will cost Council Tax payers £315,000.

Cllr Blaine asked what the severance costs were, including payments in lieu of notice (answer: £240,000). He also asked what the recruitment costs for replacements would be (answer: 25,000). He was also told that there would be a bill of £50,000 for interim staff, making a total of £315,000.

Liberal Democrat Leader, Peter Blaine commented: "I am sure Council Tax payers would prefer their hard-earned money to be spent on the front-line delivery of needed services rather than senior officers, some of whom have been with the County Council for a very short time indeed."
