The overwhelming confidence shown by commercial operators in the Bedford Town Centre riverside regeneration scheme has been further illustrated with news that the high quality restaurant operator Wagamama has signed up for a twenty-year commitment to Bedford. Wagamama joins a host of high quality restaurants in signing up for the exciting scheme.

The development is proving so popular that most of the tenancies on the site have already been signed up to a string of major entertainment, hotel and restaurant operators. The site is bringing major regeneration to Bedford town centre, providing a vibrant new destination for residents and visitors to the town.

Dave Hodgson, Mayor of Bedford Borough added: "The addition of Wagamama is another major boost for this scheme and for Bedford Town Centre. This development is intended to boost footfall for new and existing town centre businesses, and the inclusion of such popular, high quality traders as Wagamama will make a big contribution to this. Wagamama will sit alongside the other restaurants, the return of town centre cinema, two new public squares, the footbridge and new links between the town and the riverside as new attractions which help make Bedford town centre even more enjoyable for people of all ages, during the day and in the evening."

Construction of the new development is due to begin shortly, with the site set to open in late 2016. Alongside Wagamama agreements have already been formally exchanged with Vue Entertainment Limited for a state-of-the-art 7 screen cinema and with Premier Inn for a 100 bedroom hotel. Other restaurants signed up include the Gondola Group for a Zizzi, Prezzo PLC for a Chimichanga, Tragus for a Bella Italia and Mitchell's and Butler for a Harvester.
