Sarah Holland uses the New LibraryPlus service
Monday 4th September, saw the start of the new LibraryPlus service in Bedford Borough.
With 100s of libraries closing across the UK, Bedford Liberal Democrats are bucking the trend and keeping all of the Library services in Bedford Borough open. The new service will include self-service hours through LibraryPlus at Bedford Central, Bromham and Wootton Libraries.
The new service includes longer library opening hours by over 40 hours a week, including the Central Library opening on Sundays.
100s of Bedford Borough Residents have signed up for the new service in the last 7 days. If you would like to sign up too then please visit your local library to obtain your Library CArd and Pin number to access the service in self service hours.
Lib Dem Cllr Sarah Holland, Portfolio Holder for Leisure and Culture said "I am delighted at the positive response LibraryPlus has had in our libraries so far, with current and new library users signing up to LibraryPlus. I know this is a big change to how our libraries operate, but with the financial pressure the Council is facing this change will allow us to continue to keep every single one of our libraries open while making the necessary savings."
The LibraryPlus new opening hours are available at www.bedford.gov.uk/LibraryPlus.
Users in Kempston and Putnoe Library felt that LibraryPlus wasn't suitable for those branches, so there will be some reduction in opening hours in these libraries, to make the necessary savings required by Bedford Borough Council.
