Save the Date! 4th May 2023
It is just 100 days until we have elections here in Bedford Borough.
As well as voting for the Mayor we will also be electing 46 Councillors on new Ward boundaries.
The Government has changed the way we vote in the Mayoral election. Previously you had first and second preference votes, this time you will just have one vote.
The Government has also changed the rules on voting so you will now need to bring photographic identification to the Polling Station when you go to vote. You can find a list of identification at https://mayordave.org.uk/voter-id-for-elections
You can apply for free identification at https://www.gov.uk/apply-for-photo-id-voter-authority-certificate
If you would like to help the Liberal Democrat team in these elections, there are a number of ways you can help from delivering leaflets, knocking on doors, or helping with stuffing leaflets or clerical work. You can volunteer at http://bedfordlibdems.org.uk/Help
You can also make a donation to help at https://bedfordlibdems.org.uk/en/donate. The Liberal Democrats rely on small donations from individuals like you. We've never had the big business or trade union cash the other parties can count on, especially at a local level.
Due to the Coronation we will have a bank holiday on the Monday before and the Monday after the elections, which means some people will be going away. If you are going away, you may wish to register for a postal vote for this year's elections. Even if you are not going away the easiest and simplest way to ensure you will have a chance to vote in the next elections is to get a Postal Vote. You can download Postal Vote application forms, which you can complete and return to Bedford Borough Council, from www.electoralcommission.org.uk/i-am-a/voter/apply-vote-post
