Mayor Dave Hodgson was in attendance representing the Borough at the Scots Society of St Andrew's 'deeply moving' Service of Remembrance at Bedford Cemetery, Foster Hill Road on Sunday.

Commenting on his Facebook page on Monday, Mayor Dave Hodgson wrote:

"The Scots' Society of St Andrew, Bedford, held a deeply moving Service of Remembrance yesterday at Bedford Cemetery, Foster Hill Road. I was honoured to be invited to take part and to lay a wreath. The Standard Bearers pictured did a superb job, in keeping with the service.

Bedford Borough's communities always observe Remembrance Services in fitting fashion and great numbers, and I hope that will be the case again this year, as we join together to honour those whose bravery and sacrifice must never be forgotten.

This Sunday, 8th November, there will be a Remembrance Service at the War Memorial on The Embankment. I hope to see a strong turnout as usual for this event, at which those attending should arrive by 10.40am.

The Kempston Remembrance Day Service follows later on Sunday 8th, at 2.30pm at he Kempston East Methodist Church.

On Armistice Day, 11th November, the Royal British Legion will be holding its annual commemoration and Two Minutes' Silence at 'Boots Corner' in Bedford town centre (the Junction of HarpurSt/Silver St/Midland Rd)"
