Local business SDC Builders LTD turn 50 this year and as the company's fiftieth year approached, SDC's Board of Directors started to give serious consideration to how the occasion should be celebrated.

Given the business was founded on collaboration and integrity, with a passion for supporting local communities at its core, the conclusion was obvious. A year's worth of unique events leading up to September 2022 to raise £110,000 for good causes. There are a wide variety of ways to participate in the fundraising efforts, ranging from solo sporting challenges and team pursuits, to more leisurely activities such as a pub quiz, auction evening and family day out. Each event will provide an opportunity for SDC's staff, clients, supply chain and key partners to combine forces to raise money for the chosen charities. The events all feature a main charity (or charities) that are guaranteed a £10,000 donation underwritten by SDC.

Francis Shiner, SDC Managing Director said "As a company we do not make a habit of asking for support but in this particular year many of the local charities need help and we would really like to use our anniversary as an opportunity to make a difference. We have concluded that the way in which we would like to celebrate our anniversary is to hold an event each month in the year leading up to September 2022, with a contribution of no less than £10,000, underwritten by SDC, to a variety of charities. Our company and its achievements have never been a representation of what we have done on our own, the successes are a team effort; collaboration between staff, clients, and suppliers has always been critical. As such, we wish to give all of these stakeholders an opportunity to be part of our events, not just by sponsorship, but also to share in the enjoyment. In addition to the activities themselves, each event will feature a dedicated village full of entertainment for the whole family to enjoy. We want to use our anniversary celebrations to engage with as many people as possible."
