Sign the Petition to Save Maternity Services at Bedford Hospital!
Mayor Dave Hodgson has launched a new petition to save maternity services at Bedford Hospital, following the announcement this week of a proposed downgrade, including the removal of all births from the hospital.
In comments on his Facebook page, Mayor Dave said:
"Today I'm launching a petition to Save Bedford Hospital Maternity Services.
The plans announced this week to stop all births at Bedford Hospital are totally unacceptable for our growing local population.
Expectant mothers from Bedford and surrounding towns and villages must not be forced to travel for up to an hour to Milton Keynes, away from their home, their family and support networks.
The only way we will defeat these appalling plans is to by speaking with one powerful, united voice as a community in opposition to them. That's why I'm asking everyone who is concerned about the loss of maternity services in Bedford to sign my petition to Save Bedford Hospital Maternity Services.
Please sign the petition and share it with your friends and family.
No final decision is due until next year, and building the broadest possible campaign in support of our local hospital is our best chance of preventing this downgrade from going ahead."
