Spring blooms on the Embankment
Over 40,000 tulip bulbs were planted along the Embankment back in Autumn, getting ready for the Spring flowering season.
These are now in full bloom alongside bedding plants including Bellis, Myosotis and Polyanthus, creating a stunning floral scene along the river.
Along with Bedford Borough's award winning parks and open spaces, the Embankment floral displays have always been a great source of enjoyment for Bedford's residents and visitors.
In particular during the pandemic, parks and open spaces have played a vital part in people's lives providing much loved spaces to allow people to relax, unwind and de-stress.
Many have re-discovered the vast health and wellbeing benefits that our green spaces provide, and they remain an important part of their daily lives.
Mayor Dave Hodgson said "Bedford's Embankment is a beautiful place for a walk, cycle or just to watch the world go by at any time of the year, but it really does look spectacular at the moment with thousands and thousands of tulip bulbs and other flowers in bloom. With the Bedford Embankment being such a special place for many, we hope that residents and visitors alike take some time out to de-stress and enjoy the tranquil riverside setting, and beautiful display of flowers currently blooming. A huge thanks must go to our grounds maintenance team who work so hard to create these amazing displays every year."
