St. George’s Day celebrations
Bedford Borough will be celebrating St. George's Day this weekend with the return of the Scouts, Cubs and Beavers parading in Bedford town centre on Sunday and activities at The Higgins Bedford on both Saturday and Sunday.
It is great to see the Scouts, Cubs and Beavers St. George's Day Parade return after a few years absence. The Parade will take place on Sunday forming up in Harpur Square for their Promise Renewal at 2.10pm.
The Higgins Bedford will be celebrating Morris Dancing on Saturday with a talk and discussion about changes to local Morris Dancing between 11am-12:30pm and Morris Dancing displays from Hemlock Morris, Red Cuthbert and Golden Hare Morris local groups followed by a traditional mummer's play by Barfront Guizers between 1:30pm and 3pm.
The Higgins Bedford will also be hosting a St. George and the Dragon themed Crafternoon on Sunday between 2-4pm. You can find out more about both events at https://www.thehigginsbedford.org.uk/
We will, of course, be flying the flag of St. George (and England) at both Borough Hall and the Old Town Hall on Sunday as we do every year to celebrate our national day.
