The Accession of His Majesty King Charles III and remembering Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II
On Sunday Bedford Borough hosted the County Proclamation of Accession for King Charles III and Mayor Dave Hodgson then read the Local Proclamation in Harpur Square in Bedford.
The High Sheriff read the County Proclamation of Accession at an incredibly well attended event.
The Book of Condolence is open at the Harpur Suite in Bedford. This will remain open from 8am to 5pm until the day after the funeral for those who would like to sign it. There is also an online Book of Condolence you can sign at www.royal.uk
Bedford Borough Council is inviting residents to lay floral tributes at western end of Russell Park.
This coming Saturday at 3pm there will be a special Service of Thanksgiving for Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II at St Paul's Church in Bedford. This is open to all regardless of faith. A number of other churches throughout the Borough will also be holding their own services.
On Sunday at 8pm there will be a National Moment of Reflection to mourn the passing of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and reflect on her life and legacy. This will be marked with a one-minute silence.
On Monday Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II's funeral will take place at 11am. Bedford Corn Exchange will hold a public screening for those that would like to come together to watch the funeral. With numbers strictly limited due to the capacity of Bedford Corn Exchange, residents must book their place to watch the proceedings in advance.
