The Great British Spring Clean Gets Underway in Bedford Borough
Mayor Dave Hodgson has thanked everyone planning to volunteer and support any of the large number of Great British Spring Clean events taking place across Bedford Borough. They kick off this weekend, with community clean ups on Saturday 23rd March in Stevington, Stagsden and central Bedford, and on Sunday 24th March in Wilstead and Wootton.
Bedford Borough Council has coordinated the clean-ups alongside volunteers and Keep Britain Tidy, which is seeking to inspire 500,000 people across the country to help collect and safely dispose of litter. This year, the Spring Clean will focus on single-use plastic and encourages everyone to recycle as much as possible.
Commenting, Mayor Dave said: "The Great British Spring Clean is fantastic way to get involved in your local area, and join with people across the Borough and across the country. We are proud to support local communities in and around Bedford with their clean-up efforts and would like to thank all of our volunteers for their fantastic work. If you've never volunteered before, this is a great place to start."
