Three more roads set for resurfacing

Works on a resurfaced road

As part of the major annual investment into roads and pavements across the Borough, three more roads are set to be resurfaced by Bedford Borough Council in the next couple of months. Castle Road Gyratory, Eastcotts Road in Kingsbrook and Ridge Road in Kempston will all be repaired and renewed to create a safer environment for all road users.

Mayor Dave Hodgson said "It is fantastic that we're able to set aside a significant portion of our budget to invest back into roads and pavements across the Borough. The roads we inherited from the County Council were a complete mess and that is why we made it our priority to fix them.

"Year-on-year we have consistently invested more into our roads and pavements than the grant we get from national government. We receive around £2 million per year from government which does not go very far at all. We want to be able to target more roads, so that is why we have invested at least £3 million per year on top of that."

The latest round of resurfacing will benefit residents in Castle, Newnham, Kingsbrook and Kempston. The Council also run a Pothole Hit Squad service that responds to residents' reports of potholes and quickly fills them in. If you would like to report a pothole or other road problem visit https://www.bedford.gov.uk/parking-roads-and-travel/roads-and-pavements/road-issue/.
