Top tips for voting on Thursday

2 May 2023
Manifesto launch 2023

Polls open at 7am on Thursday morning and will remain open until 10pm.

For these elections the government has decided that you have to show photographic identification, you can find a list of acceptable ID at https://www.electoralcommission.org.uk/i-am-a/voter/voter-id/accepted-forms-photo-id. Please make sure you have you ID ready to take with you to the Polling Station.

The location of your Polling Station is printed on your polling card, alternatively you can find out where you can vote at https://www.electoralcommission.org.uk/i-am-a/voter/your-election-information

You do not need your Polling Card to vote, but you will be asked your name and address and to show your photographic ID.

There may be volunteers from political parties outside the Polling Station who may ask you for electoral number and/or name and address. This is to help them know who has voted and will reduce the chance of them knocking on your door to remind you to vote later.

The Government has also changed the voting system for the Mayoral election - you only have one vote this time, there are no second choices. The election is between me and the Conservative candidate; Labour were a poor third last time and the Greens even further back. A vote for anyone other than me will only help the Conservative!

Once you have voted you can let me know at www.libdems.org.uk/Voted - again this will help the campaign team to not have to remind you to vote.

If you have any problems you can call the Council on 01234 718078.
