Tribute Paid to Members of the Armed Forces Community at Borough Hall Flag-Raising Ceremony
Today, 21st June, Armed Forces Week begins with the raising of the Armed Forces Day flag on buildings and famous landmarks around the country. This morning, the Armed Forces Day Flag was raised in a ceremony at Borough Hall in Bedford which also featured a Standard Bearer and a piper.
Mayor Dave Hodgson was joined by a number of representatives including Cllr Jake Sampson (Newnham), who represented the Liberal Democrat Group at the ceremony.
Commenting afterwards, Cllr Sampson said: "During Armed Forces Week we say thank you and show our support for the men and women who make up the Armed Forces community. It was an honour to represent the Bedford Borough Liberal Democrat group at this morning's service and to see the flag raised in honour of the service of all current and past members of our Armed Forces."
