Vandalised bus shelters being left in disrepair for months despite being reported

Damage to Queen's Drive bus stop

Liberal Democrat Councillor Michael Headley demanded better for residents at a Council Meeting on Wednesday this week. He showed photo of shelter in Queen’s Drive that has two broken panels to the Mayor. Cllr Headley confirmed that when this shelter was reported to the Council, Ward Councillors were told that there was no funding available to repair this, or any other vandalised shelter in the Borough. Not only this, but there has been no money available since April!

Following a response about future funding, Cllr Headley said "It is all very well pointing to potential future money, but we need to deal with the reality of Borough wide issues now. Bus shelter repairs are another example of Conservative councillors failing to prioritise residents' needs and failing to budget for the basics whilst spending £2.4 million extra in interest payments on borrowing this year alone."
