Henry Vann has challenged Labour to come clean on the lack of funding for armed forces personnel to be well protected on active duty.

Henry, Bedford and Kempston's Liberal Democrat Parliamentary Candidate, said:

"Brave British Soldiers do a fantastic job on behalf of all of us and they deserve all our support in what they do.

"But the Government has not given them the support they need - despite two active missions being in place as we speak.

"I know someone out in Afghanistan right now who has told me how he has had to buy extra supplies to ensure he is well equipped on active duty. On such low pay, it is appalling that our troops then have to buy their own gear."

Highlighting the concerns over the treatment of armed forces veterans in general, Henry added:

"These heroes risked their lives to protect the UK, and from Gurkha's rights through to fair pensions Labour has got it wrong.

"I was speaking to a Veteran and member of the Royal British Legion the other day who felt sorely let down by the Labour Government."
