Mayor Dave Hodgson today took part in an Armistice Day ceremony at the Bedford War Memorial on the Embankment, at 11am. As with Sunday's Remembrance Service, it was a reduced service in line with current regulations and to ensure the safety of all involved. Photographs will be available on Mayor Dave's Facebook page in due course.

There you will also see photographs and links to more coverage of events from Remembrance Day on Sunday. Bedford's Armistice Day Service usually takes place in the middle of the town centre, enabling a large crowd to join together in remembering the fallen. Clearly this has not been possible this year on safety grounds, however in common with homes, schools, workplaces and other locations, at 11am the area around the Bedford War Memorial fell silent in tribute to the sacrifice of those who have served on behalf of us all.

With the usual sale of poppies severely limited this year, the Royal British Legion have been encouraging people to make a donation online. You can do so at www.britishlegion.org.uk
