Women's Tour Route Unveiled: World Class Cycling Coming to the Streets of Bedford Borough

Mayor Dave Hodgson yesterday joined Bedfordshire resident and leading cyclist Helen Wyman, Women's Tour organiser Guy Elliott and sponsors University of Bedfordshire, the Harpur Trust and BedfordBID to officially unveil the race route through Bedford for the culmination of stage two of the inaugural Women's Tour Elite International Cycle Race in May.

The event took place on the Embankment, just a few yards away from where the finish line will be on 8th May. The Women's Tour is this country's first ever international stage race for women and will see reigning Olympic Champions Laura Trott, Joanne Roswell, Dani King and Marianne Vos racing against other top cyclists from around the world.

Bedford Borough Council is working with a range of partners and the sponsors to make it a really enjoyable and exciting day for people of all ages. "The sight of elite cyclists racing through the streets of Bedford Borough will provide a tremendous spectacle for people of all ages to enjoy. With a range of activities and events taking place on the day, this is set to be an extremely exciting sporting occasion for the Borough."
