Today, October 10th is World Mental Health Day, and Bedford Borough Liberal Democrats are backing this year's theme of 'Mental Health for All'. As the President of the World Federation for Mental Health (WFMH) says, "Mental health is a human right - it's time that mental health is available for all." You can read more about this year's World Mental Health Day on the WFMH website here.

Last month Newnham Ward Liberal Democrat Cllr Jake Sampson, Bedford Borough Council's youngest elected member, visited local charity Bedford Open Door to talk to them about the mental health support they provide for local young people, with free and confidential counselling available to young people aged 13 - 25.

You can watch a video filmed during Cllr Sampson's visit here.

Commenting, Cllr Sampson said: "I was really pleased to visit Bedford Open Door and hear directly about the fantastic work they do to support young people locally. Local charities such as Bedford Open Door and their volunteers are owed a debt of gratitude from us all for the mental health support they provide in our community."
