Young Carers Awareness Day - Raising Awareness of the Challenges Faced by Young Carers

30 Jan 2020
Cllr Christine McHugh

Today is Young Carers Awareness Day, and Bedford Borough Liberal Democrats are joining the call for increased awareness of the challenges young carers face as an important part of ensuring they receive the support they need.

Commenting, Bedford Borough Liberal Democrat Group Leader Cllr Christine McHugh said: "Young carers face a wide range of challenges in their home and school life that are often not obvious to others. Caring for someone can be very isolating, worrying and stressful, especially for young people, and it can affect their own wellbeing, educational outcomes and longer-term life chances.'

"Raising awareness of those challenges they face, on Young Carers Day and throughout the year, is an important part of ensuring they receive the support they need."
