Half Term Library Events Feb 2023

Free crafts for children at Bedford Borough Libraries this half-term

From Saturday 11 to Saturday 18 February, families are invited to visit Bedford Borough Libraries for free fun craft activities. Bedford Central, Bromham, Kempston, Putnoe, and Wootton libraries all have activities planned. Crafts include; creating bug masks, paper bag dinosaurs, and Valentine's Day Cards. There will also be colouring and Lego clubs in all the libraries. Bedford Central Library has a special half-term Story Time on Wednesday 15 February 11:30am - 12:00pm.

Vigil for Ukraine

Mayor Dave Hodgson, Councillors and residents will be holding a silent vigil for Ukraine on the anniversary of the Russian invasion on Friday 24 February at 6pm at Harpur Square in Bedford.

Bugs and Bees Project

New Bugs and Bees locations confirmed after more success

At a meeting of the Climate Change Committee this week, Mayor Dave Hodgson confirmed the new locations for rewilding and relaxed grass cutting to help save the bees and boost biodiversity across Bedford Borough. The new sites include Margetts Road, Aylesbury Road, Clapham Road Roundabout, Moor Lane, Bedford Park and Bowhill Park.

Children’s Laureate, Joseph Coelho

Children’s Laureate, Joseph Coelho, will visit Kempston Library

Bedford Borough Libraries is excited to welcome an award winning performance poet and children's author to one of its libraries. Following a previous postponement, Joseph Coelho, the Waterstones Children's Laureate will now visit Kempston Library on Monday 20 February, 1pm to 2:15pm. He will be signing up for a library card and speaking to visitors and staff, everyone is welcome to attend. Joseph will be speaking to visitors and performing some of his poetry. A class from a local school will also be at the event.
