Friday 01st September sees the official opening of Riverside Bedford.
Following a two-tier conversion from Middle to Secondary, building works at Castle Newnham School, in Polhill Avenue, have started on a brand new Music Hub.
There was a celebratory event this month to mark the completion of the 'Townscape Heritage Initiative' (THI) Project. The project launched in September 2011 with an aim to offer grants to improve traditional properties that were either derelict, in poor repair and/or vacant.
Bedford Borough Council is taking further action to balance the books in the face of brutal government cuts in funding for local services.
Students across Bedford Borough are celebrating exam success. Based on returns from 8 upper schools, provisional A Level results show 99.3% of pupils achieved one or more A* - E grades. Cllr Henry Vann, Portfolio Holder for Education at Bedford Borough Council, said: "Congratulations to everyone who got their results and thank you to all the parents, carers, teachers who have helped you on the way. I would like to give recognition to the hard-working students, and their dedicated teachers, who have secured these results as they look to take their next steps into the world of work or on into further and higher education: Well done!"
