Mayor Dave Slams Rail Fares Increase and Renews Call to Freeze Fares
Mayor Dave Hodgson has described the 3.1% average rail fares increase announced today as an 'outrage' from which Bedford rail users must be protected due to the unique array of failures and disruptions they have suffered. He also renewed his call on the government to freeze fares from Bedford

Earlier today IMayor Dave Hodgson and Councillor Sarah Gallagher watched Shortstown Rangers FC beat Rushden and Diamonds 5-3. Well done to both teams on a good match.
Children’s Laureate, Joseph Coelho, to visit Kempston Library
Bedford Borough Libraries is excited to welcome an award winning performance poet and children's author to one of its libraries. Joseph Coelho, the Waterstones Children's Laureate, will visit Kempston Library on Tuesday 24th January, 1pm to 2pm. He will be signing up for a library card and speaking to visitors and staff, everyone is welcome to attend. Joseph will be performing some of his poetry. A class from a local school will also be at the event.
Time for Government to Help End Rough Sleeping for Good in Communities Like Bedford Borough
Responding to the news that £53 million nationally will be provided to support services to help rough sleepers in the wake of the COVID-19 crisis, Bedford Borough Liberal Democrats have called on the Government to build on that announcement and help bring rough sleeping to an end in Bedford Borough and across the country.
