Over the last few months, Mayor Dave Hodgson has announced a number of schemes and grants aimed at supporting Bedford Borough residents through the cost of living crisis. Some of the actions taken include helping to create a network of Warm Spaces, providing grants to a number of charities and organisations, as well as continuing to offer 100% Council Tax support to the most vulnerable residents. The key schemes are outlined below:
A fly-tipper has been fined for illegally dumping bags of rubbish and a rolled-up cushion from their car in Ampthill Road, Bedford in December.
Bedford Borough Council's Children's Services Overview and Scrutiny Committee will hear today that the Council, working with partners, is committed to improving pupil's attainment results.
The first Miyawaki planting project in Bedford Borough will take place at Longholme Way, Bedford, on Saturday 21 January. This is an exciting opportunity for volunteers to make a positive impact in their community by helping to create dense, biodiverse urban forests using the Miyawaki method with native trees.
Bedford Borough Council is giving away 5,000 trees to local residents, businesses, schools and community groups to collect and plant locally. This giveaway will be held on Wednesday 15 February and Saturday 18 February, from 10am to 3pm at Oasis Beach Pool car park.
