Mayor Dave Hodgson paid a bright and early visit to the Royal Mail's Bedford Delivery Office to thank staff for their efforts during the extremely busy period for them in the run-up to Christmas.
The Bedford Christmas Fair is taking place throughout the pedestrian area in Bedford Town Centre from today, Friday 11 December through to Sunday 13 December. The fair offers the chance for people to enjoy can experience the sights, sounds and smells of a traditional Christmas, with numerous attractions and stalls throughout the heart of the Town Centre selling an array of seasonal gifts, foods and treats.
A new initiative facilitated by Bedford Borough Council has been launched with the aim of encouraging local young people to consider a career in engineering.
In his latest message to subscribers to his email updates, sent out on New Year's Eve, Mayor Dave Hodgson has wished everyone a Happy New Year, and looked ahead to a year of events and activities to help mark the 850th anniversary of the granting of Bedford's Royal Charter in 1166. A special logo has been produced for the anniversary, which will be available for groups and organisations to use and promote through the year, and which you can see here alongside this story.
