Rough sleeping remains low in Bedford Borough

New figures have revealed the number of people sleeping rough is rising substantially in surrounding areas but in Bedford Borough the figure has remained at two since 2021 - one of the lowest numbers in the region. Central Bedfordshire, Luton, Milton Keynes, North Northamptonshire and West Northamptonshire all recorded rises in rough sleeping numbers. Bedford Borough Council has been praised for its Homelessness Strategy that has just been extended for another year.

A new Edward Bawden exhibition has opened at The Higgins Bedford. The ''Trains, Planes & Automobiles' exhibition is free to view and explores all the different transport seen in Bawden's work. With over fifty works on display, there is something for everyone. From hot air balloons over beaches and waving pilots in early biplanes to vicars driving through sheep and yapping dogs chasing anything with wheels.

Last week Mayor Dave Hodgson welcomed Sir Ed Davey MP to Stewartby where they visited EVIOS, a start-up business that manufactures electric vehicle charging points. The Liberal Democrat Leader also praised Mayor Dave for his work bringing new jobs to the Borough and supporting sustainable businesses.
