Mayor Dave Hodgson has announced his plan for a major congestion busting scheme in central Bedford. The Prebend Street Relief Road will divert vehicles away from one of the town's most notorious traffic and air quality hotspots, easing congestion for road users and improving quality of life for local residents.
Bedford Borough Council has successfully secured £383,323 in funding to continue to deliver additional support services for those sleeping rough.
Responding to reports that thousands of EU citizens are being forced to pay for calls to the Home Office's Settlement Resolution Centre for help with their Settled Status applications, Liberal Democrat Home Affairs spokesperson Ed Davey said "EU citizens in the UK are our neighbours and our colleagues, our families and our friends. But ever since the Brexit referendum, they have been treated appallingly by this Conservative Government."
