This week marked a year in office after my election as Mayor following the sad death of Frank Branston. It really is a huge honour to serve as Mayor of Bedford Borough. I have sought to seize the opportunity and through our commitment to protecting services and cutting out waste, we've made huge strides in turning around the old County Council's years of high taxes and poor services.
Dave Hodgson was re-selected as the Liberal Democrat Candidate for Mayor of Bedford Borough at a packed meeting of local party members this week. A year on from his victory in the Mayoral by-election, Dave was re-selected unanimously and immediately pledged to keep working to get the best for Bedford Borough.

This week I popped over to Pavenham Village Hall and Playing Fields to see the solar panels putting installed in the first project supported by the Mayor's Climate Change Fund. I was met by Members of the Pavenham Village Hall and Playing Fields Charity, while the guys from S.A. Solar, the Bedford firm installing the panels, were obviously also on hand. Congratulations must go to the Charity's members for pursuing this excellent project, for which they were awarded over £8,000 (50% of the total cost) from our new fund.
