A joint Liberal Democrat and Labour amendment has stopped the Mayor’s planned £1.2 million cut to the roads and pavements maintenance budget proposed by the Conservatives at the last Council meeting.
Councillor Sue Abood has moved a motion calling on the Council to fix the dangerous pavements and work with providers to improve internet connectivity in Wood End.
The Conservative-run Council Cabinet have proposed a cut of £1.2 million from the road and pavement maintenance budgets. This will limit the Council’s ability to renew and maintain the road and pavement network.
Conservatives on Bedford Borough Council have revealed plans to be agreed at this week’s Cabinet meeting that will hit local residents in the pocket during this cost of living crisis. The general increase on Council fees and charges will be 7.5%.
In an interview with BBC Three Counties Radio Liberal Democrat Councillor Jon Abbott has slammed Bedford Borough Council for their lack of engagement with Grant Palmer who have had to cancel a number of bus services in recent months.
