Bank Holiday Bin Collections to Take Place as Usual
Bedford Borough Council has confirmed that for those whose bin collection is due on Good Friday, 10th April, or on Easter Monday, 13th April, it will be collected it as usual.

Bedford Borough Liberal Democrats have welcomed the Council's proposed policy on Sky Lantern releases, which bans them from, over and on Council land and premises. It also confirms that any releases are considered potential littering and may be met with enforcement action.

Hydro Power Plant Exceeds Savings Projections for Local Taxpayers
The pioneering Hydro Power facility at the Boatslide Weir Bridge on the River Great Ouse in Bedford has exceeded income generation expectations for 2014. When the facility, which uses 'Archimedes Screw' trechnology to generate renewable energy from the fall between the upper and lower river, was opened in 2012, the estimated income generation was £32,000. However, between 01/01/14 and 31/12/14 the Hydro Power facility generated £33,400.
