Government finally announces East West Rail route

After two years of delays and poor communication with residents, the government have finally made a decision on the East West Rail route. They have chosen route alignment 1 with an expansion to six tracks north of Bedford Station.

Bedford Borough Liberal Democrats have called on the Conservative Mayor to keep the Climate Change, Housing and Rural Affairs Committees of the Executive introduced by former Mayor Dave Hodgson. The committees ensure that these important issues are kept at the forefront of public discussion. However, the future of these committees is now under threat, following the announcement that the Mayor is reviewing whether to continue with them or not.

Outdoor gym equipment has now been installed as part of the Riverside for All project that was overseen by Councillor Henry Vann as the former Portfolio Holder for Town Centres and Planning. The project is also seeing new paths installed in St Mary's gardens, the resurfacing of the Embankment and new signage along the riverside.

Anglian Water’s apology is far too late after years of sewage scandal

Bedford Borough Liberal Democrats have called for Anglian Water to be overhauled, along with the rest of the water industry, following an overdue apology for sewage dumping. This comes following the Surfers against Sewage Paddle Out Protest this weekend, demanding that water companies stop making a profit from pollution and start investing in our future, for the sake of people and the planet.
