The final result of the first Bedford Mayoral Election saw Frank Branston elected for the Better Bedford Party. Lib Dem Christine McHugh came second with 36% of the total vote after the 2nd preferences were counted.
The Bedford Mayoral Election count for the first directly elected Mayor of Bedford has been suspended with the second round to be counted on Friday Morning. At the end of a long nights count, Christine McHugh and Frank Branston topped the poll and proceeded to the second round.
The Lib Dem campaign for Mayor of Bedford continues to gather pace and a close result is expected tomorrow - but only if people turn out to support Christine.
