Bedford Players Trust, on behalf of Bedford Borough Council, are inviting all cultural and community groups to apply for funding through the High Street Heritage Action Zone (HSHAZ) Cultural Programme, run in partnership by Bedford Borough Council and Historic England.
At Wednesday's Full Council Meeting Finance Portfolio Holder Councillor Michael Headley outlined the plan to reduce the council's funding gap this year. The plan sets out the measures that are already being taken to balance the budget in the face of unprecedented financial challenges that are impacting local authorities across the country. After years of Conservative government cuts to local government, councils (like all residents) are facing record high inflation, soaring energy prices and stagnant economic growth.
Together Bedford Borough, the Council's Corporate Plan for the next four years has now been launched.
Independents' Day is a campaign that exists to support and promote independent retail businesses across the UK all year round, but with an annual focus on July 4th: 'Independents' Day' itself, however as this falls on a Sunday this year it is being celebrated all weekend.
From 17 to 31 December families are invited to visit Bedford Borough Libraries for free fun craft activities and story-times. Bedford Central, Bromham, Kempston, Putnoe, and Wootton libraries all have events and activities planned. Crafts include; creating paper party hats, New Year calendars and Christmas cards. There will also be colouring, board games, Lego clubs, and story-times.
