Mayor Dave Hodgson by the River in Bedford

Rough Sleeping - Mayor's Thanks to Volunteers and How to Help

It was World Homeless Day last week, and in his regular email update, Mayor Dave Hodgson thanked volunteers and organisations helping to support rough sleepers and tackle homelessness locally. He also shared a video from his recent visit to SMART Prebend Day Centre's open day, where Lisa from SMART listed the items they are asking people to donate at the moment. Hydro Power Plant Exceeds Savings Projections for Local Taxpayers

The pioneering Hydro Power facility at the Boatslide Weir Bridge on the River Great Ouse in Bedford has exceeded income generation expectations for 2014. When the facility, which uses 'Archimedes Screw' trechnology to generate renewable energy from the fall between the upper and lower river, was opened in 2012, the estimated income generation was £32,000. However, between 01/01/14 and 31/12/14 the Hydro Power facility generated £33,400.
