The Quarry Theatre is now showing a 'Lockdown' Exhibition featuring over 100 pieces of work from members of the public created during Lockdown in various forms including paintings, paper sculptures and a knitted diary of lockdown life.

Christmas crafts at Bedford Borough Libraries - December 2022

Free crafts for children at Bedford Borough Libraries this Christmas

From 17 to 31 December families are invited to visit Bedford Borough Libraries for free fun craft activities and story-times. Bedford Central, Bromham, Kempston, Putnoe, and Wootton libraries all have events and activities planned. Crafts include; creating paper party hats, New Year calendars and Christmas cards. There will also be colouring, board games, Lego clubs, and story-times.

Bedford's Forgotten Polar Connection: Unveiling of Bedford's Latest Blue Hertitage Plaque

A Blue Heritage Plaque was unveiled last week at the former Bedford home of the Polar Explorer Aeneas Mackintosh. Mayor Dave Hodgson was in attendance at the formal unveiling at 43 Beverley Crescent, which Mackintosh rented in 1914 in order that his wife could be close to her relatives while he was away leading the Ross Sea Advance Party of Sir Ernest Shackleton's Trans Antarctic Expedition.

Construction of New Iceland Store at Church Lane Development Underway

Following on from the recent opening of a brand new medical centre at the popular Church Lane Development, Mayor Dave Hodgson joined local Liberal Democrat Ward Councillors and others to mark more good news for the site recently, as works began on the construction of a new Iceland store. The new store is being constructyed at the oppostie end of the redeveloped site from the Aldi store, and will be open as early as this summer.
