Attendance figures for the Borough's Warm Spaces Network have passed 2,000 as residents continue to suffer from the cost of living crisis. 15 organisations have submitted their attendance figures, therefore the actual number is likely to be much higher with the Council's Warm Spaces Network now having over 30 organisations signed up.
Open fires and wood-burning or multi-fuel stoves have risen in popularity over recent years. There are many benefits for users but burning at home contributes to a type of pollutant called fine particulate matter. This is present in smoke and the tiny particles can harm the health of people that breath it in.
Bedford Borough Council currently has electric vehicle (EV) charging points in 28 locations in the Borough, including a dedicated EV car park at Riverside with more in the pipeline and is now looking to expand its EV infrastructure by seeking suggestions from residents for new locations.
In yet another delay to important policy, it is rumoured that reforms to the Mental Health Act will not be fully implemented until 2030/31 despite having made the announcements in 2017. An independent review in December 2018 made 154 recommendations to urgently improve the service.
Bedford Borough residents on means-tested benefits and disability benefits will automatically receive financial support from government this year.
