New Café for Priory Country Park
Bedford Borough Council has invited tenders to develop and run a café in the visitors centre at Priory Country Park. The multiple award-winning country park, which was awarded Green Flag status for the fourteenth year running this summer, already provides wonderful facilities for families, dog walkers, water sports, fishing and nature fans. However, in order to go even further and provide refreshments for those who wish to enjoy the park, the Council has invited businesses to tender.

Bedford Town Centre Comes to Standstill for Armistice Day Commemoration
A busy and bustling Bedford Town Centre on market day fell silent earlier today as tribute was paid to members of the armed forces who have lost their lives in service. The Royal British Legion's Armistice Day Commemmoration once again took place on 'Boots Corner' near the junction Midland Road and Harpur Suite, and hundreds of people gathered for a poignant service and an immaculately observed two minutes' silence.

Mayor Dave: Bedford - Oxford Rail Link and its Economic Benefits Must Not be Delayed
Mayor Dave Hodgson has spoken out about the damage which would be done if the Oxford to Bedford section of East West Rail were delayed, as is being considered by Network Rail. In the summer, the government asked the Chairman of Network Rail, Sir Peter Hendy, to review all rail enhancements to be delivered by 2019, and it is understood that a recommendation to delay completion of the Oxford to Bedford link by three years to 2022, and other elements of the western section of the line to as late as 2026.
