Following huge investment in cycling across Bedford, improvements are on route for cyclists and pedestrians south of the town with a walking and cycling track alongside the A6 being designed this year, set to be built in 2016/17.
On Sunday, Remembrance Services taking place include the wreath laying and Remembrance Service in Bedford at the War Memorial on the Embankment, and in Kempston at the War Memorial following the Kempston Remembrance Day Service and Parade.
Cllr David Sawyer and Cllr Henry Vann, your two local councillors for De Parys, have been campaigning for safer junctions in the ward. The first new bollards have been installed at the junction between Chiltern Avenue and Putnoe Lane, where a number of crashes have taken place.
Mayor Dave Hodgson has spoken out about the damage which would be done if the Oxford to Bedford section of East West Rail were delayed, as is being considered by Network Rail. In the summer, the government asked the Chairman of Network Rail, Sir Peter Hendy, to review all rail enhancements to be delivered by 2019, and it is understood that a recommendation to delay completion of the Oxford to Bedford link by three years to 2022, and other elements of the western section of the line to as late as 2026.
