New outdoor gym opens on the Embankment

Outdoor gym equipment has now been installed as part of the Riverside for All project that was overseen by Councillor Henry Vann as the former Portfolio Holder for Town Centres and Planning. The project is also seeing new paths installed in St Mary's gardens, the resurfacing of the Embankment and new signage along the riverside.

Anglian Water’s apology is far too late after years of sewage scandal

Bedford Borough Liberal Democrats have called for Anglian Water to be overhauled, along with the rest of the water industry, following an overdue apology for sewage dumping. This comes following the Surfers against Sewage Paddle Out Protest this weekend, demanding that water companies stop making a profit from pollution and start investing in our future, for the sake of people and the planet.

Old Fire Station gets spruced up

Funded by the former Mayor Dave Hodgson's Town Centre Priority Fund, the Council-owned Old Fire Station in Mill Street, Bedford, has had historical images included in new vinyl prints covering its windows whilst work is undertaken to refresh the unit.

Conservative Mayor fails to deliver first manifesto promise

The new Conservative Mayor has already failed on one of his manifesto promises to include a new Portfolio Holder for Families, press releasing a new title but failing to issue the correct role to Full Council. At Full Council, the Mayor was given the opportunity to select his cabinet and their roles within the Executive, but chose not to fulfil a major manifesto promise.
